XrmToolbox: Flow Ownership Audit
Introducing Our New XrmToolbox Plugin for Power Automate Flows and Connection References
I am excited to share a new tool that I developed together with Felix Mora as part of the PACE setters program for Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement CSA's. This tool, an XrmToolbox Tool, was created to fetch ownership of Power Automate Flows and Connection References, addressing a common request from our customers.
The Need for the Tool
In our work with Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement, we frequently encountered customers who needed a more efficient way to manage and retrieve information about their Power Automate Flows and Connection References. Recognizing this need, Felix and I decided to develop a solution that would streamline this process and provide valuable insights at the click of a button.
Features of the Plugin
Our XrmToolbox plugin offers several key features:
Fetch Information: Quickly retrieve detailed information about Power Automate Flows and Connection References.
User-Friendly Interface: Designed with ease of use in mind, the plugin integrates seamlessly with XrmToolbox, making it accessible to users of all technical levels.
Efficiency: Save time and reduce manual effort by automating the retrieval process.
Development and Collaboration
The development of this plugin was a collaborative effort. Felix and I worked closely to ensure that the tool met the needs of our customers and adhered to the high standards of the PACE setters project. Our goal was to create a tool that not only addressed a specific need but also added value to the broader Dynamics 365 community.
Availability
We are proud to announce that the plugin is now available as part of the XrmToolbox. We encourage you to try it out and share your feedback with us. Your insights will help us continue to improve the tool and ensure it meets your needs.
Using the tool
Start by downloading the ‘Flow Ownership Audit’ plugin in the XrmToolbox instance.
Once installed, you can find the tool in the Tools list and launch it without needing to connect to a specific environment. Please note that for this particular tool, we were unable to utilize the pre-existing connections in the XrmToolbox.
The first step is to select the environment(s) you want to query. The tool retrieves all information about flows and connection references within the chosen environment(s), so please use this feature judiciously.
After selecting the environments, you will need to provide the username or email address of the user whose information you want to query.
If authentication and querying are successful, the list will gradually populate with Flows and Connection References owned by the specified user.
We also included an option to export all the queried data.
Next steps
Time permitting, we plan to continue adding features related to Power Automate and Dataverse in the near future. Stay tuned!
We Need Your Feedback!
We are committed to continuously improving our XrmToolbox plugin for Power Automate Flows and Connection References, and we need your help to make it even better. Your insights and feedback are invaluable to us.
If you have used the tool, please share your experiences, suggestions, and any issues you may have encountered. Your feedback will help us enhance the tool and ensure it meets your needs.
Conclusion
The creation of this XrmToolbox plugin is a testament to the power of collaboration and the importance of listening to our customers. We are excited to see how it will benefit the Dynamics 365 community and look forward to your feedback.
